• As of today, there is just one week left until the Galaxy S5 gets officially released by Samsung and Chainfire has already figured out how to root it.

As you all know, the Galaxy S5 will come with Android 4.4.2 pre-installed. For those of you who wish to get the full power of this beast, you can now easily root with Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root tool. By rooting your Galaxy S5, you will be able to run apps that require root access, gain a custom recovery and of course, get the ability to flash custom roms.

Also, please keep in mind that rooting your phone will void your warranty and there is no way to restore it. For now this rooting method only works on the international Galaxy S5 SM-G900F, do not attempt this on any other S5 models!

    Rooting Galaxy S5 SM-G900F

    1. Download this CF-Auto-Root package to your computer and extract it.
    2. On the extracted folder, you should have the Odin program and a .tar.md5 file.
    3. Power off your Galaxy S5 and boot into Download mode by holding Volume down + Power + Home buttons together. Then press the Volume up button to have it ready for download.
    4. Start the Odin program and make sure the option "Repartition" is not enabled.
    5. Click on the PDA button and choose the .tar.md5 file that you got in the folder.
    6. Click on Start and wait for a few seconds for the process to be complete.
    7. At this point, your phone should reboot into a custom recovery and root.
Huge thanks for this goes to Chainfire for his hard work. If this helped you, please consider donating to him. You can also check out his website for more Android goods at Chainfire.eu
